ABOUT
Lyndsey Bowcock is a junior at The University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism, majoring in public relations with a sports media concentration and minor in art studio. In her studies, Bowcock is focused on growing her effective storytelling skills while furthering her knowledge of sports journalism and photography. Her interest in sports journalism is a product of being raised by a mother in PR and growing up an experienced athlete playing basketball and soccer for California Thorns Development Academy.
Bowcock was a multi-year league photographer for the DeAnza Force and California Thorns soccer clubs, whose photos were used for marketing/social media and regularly published in one of soccer’s most elite sites for pre-professional coverage, TopDrawer. Playing for the Thorns DA team allowed Bowcock to travel extensively throughout the US and abroad to Spain, cultivating knowledge of various university sports programs. She also worked as a hostess/server while managing competitive sports and grades. Now Bowcock competes yearly in the Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament, a nonprofit that raises money for organizations like Mission Fishin’ and volunteers as a Final Victory Animal Shelter foster. She continues to pursue her education as an Academic Scholar Merit Award Recipient and member of Kappa Delta sorority.
